My boyfriend and I had been apart from each other for more than a year due to Covid 19 and we decided to treat ourselves in dream destination-Maldives.

So having a great time and making meaningful memories during this vacation was so important for us. And during our one month vacation we not only had an incredible time living our life to the fullest, but also we made life-time memories seizing every moment.

In one word, Velassaru is out of this world. We stayed in Water Bungalow and Deluxe Villa. We were blown away by the level of effort from the entire Velassaru staff, from grounds crew to housekeeping to management. They provided impeccable service. So many smiling faces everywhere, it was extremely welcoming. The resort itself is just outstanding. It is super clean, bug free and surrounded by beautiful coral reefs.

It is conveniently located near the wall of coral reefs where we had an incredible time diving multiple times. But I realized what makes Velassaru so special is the efforts of its crew. Especially, the management team of Marjorie and Mohamed; as well as , the resort doctor-Dr. Hassan delivered above and beyond level of service in making our stay at Velassaru extraordinary.

Marjorie and Mohamed really took their time to listen to us and our story. And they seamlessly provided us world class experience with such attention to details. Hassan frequently visited and took care of us when we had sunburns and heat stroke. We felt so safe having Dr. Hassan as on-site doctor in resort. So I want to take this moment to thank Marjorie, Mohamed and Dr. Hassan for their world class service. We absolutely will return. We highly recommend this place to anyone who is planning to visit Maldives and making life-time memories.

Divers flock here for the surrounding marine life and the easy access to nearly 50 spectacular dive sites. The watersports centre here is the largest in the Maldives, and the sheltered lagoon is the ideal spot to try windsurfing.

Of the seven bars, Babuna is the liveliest with evening entertainment, whilst Sai Kotari is a pretty tea house at the end of the jetty, serving speciality teas and coffee cocktails. New facilities include a large kids' club with indoor play area and outdoor playground. Its history and traditional style are evident but this compact village-like island also offers a host of more contemporary facilities.

And the quality is excellent. It begins with the main restaurant, Vihamanaa, which serves up buffet dishes from hearty salads to fiery curries. Snorkelling on the house reef is just steps from the beach and diving packages are available to pre-book. Rooms sit in clusters around the network of paths, with traditional exteriors and more modern furnishings. Superior Rooms are in two-storey buildings with views of the coconut groves.

For direct beach views, opt for a Beachfront Deluxe Bungalow. Just m in length, Maafushivaru is small and romantic, with two wide beaches and a glorious lagoon. An infinity pool is perfectly placed on the beachfront, next to the bar with comfy chic sofas for lounging. For an authentic Crusoe-esque experience, head over to the pint-sized islet for snorkelling and lounging in the sun.

The main buffet restaurant is the Cuisine Gallery, which offers Mediterranean cuisine infused with local flavours. There are a few new dining options: Moodhu Grill, where meat and seafood are served on the beach, Oishii which offers an overwater teppanyaki experience, and Sea Spirit that opens for lighter lunchtime bites.

The villas are stylish with Maldivian touches. Refurbished Beach Villas are just steps from the beach with a semi open-air bathroom.
